It was an incredible night of great music and standout performances, all to raise money for epilepsy.
The Purple Day event took over the OK Corral Friday night, with the lively crowd getting the chance to take in an intimate performances by Canadian country music stars Chad Brownlee and Madeline Merlo.
The third annual event was put on by Country 100.7 and the Casey Clarke Show with Roo Phelps, raising money to support the Centre for Epilepsy and Seizure Education in British Columbia.
It is a cause close to the heart of Phelps, who lost her best friend to epilepsy in 2010.
The sold out event gave ticket holders the chance to sip beer, bid on a silent auction, and take in great performances from two Canadian country artists.
Maple Ridge born Madeline Merlo serenaded the crowd with her stunning voice, while a number of couples line-danced to her songs.
Next up with Kelowna born, Chad Brownlee. The former Canuck defenseman received a boisterous welcome from his hometown crowd, performing some of his top singles, Love Me or Leave Me, Listen, When the Lights Go Down and his newest single, Hearts on Fire. At the end of his set, the local heartthrob accepted the noisy crowds request to sing one more song, inviting event goers to sing along to Tom Petty’s Free Falling.
Following the performances, 100.7 morning hosts Casey Clarke and Phelps announced more than $19,000 had been raised. All proceeds from the evening will go directly to the Centre for Epilepsy and Seizure Education in B.C.
