CONTEST CLOSED: Win enough food to fuel your May Long adventure!

May Long Weekend is coming up fast, and that means outdoor lovers everywhere are planning their next big getaway!

If you’re looking for something unique and exciting to do on your Long Weekend, why not try a kayak trip? The May weather is ideal for the sport—not so hot you’re baking out in the open sun but not so cold that you need to bundle up! Plus, there are so many great spots to kayak on Vancouver Island, whether you’re looking for a day trip or a three day adventure.

Thinking about a May Long kayak trip? You’re in luck—Wild Edge Keto is giving you a chance to win a weekend’s worth of keto backpacking meals, so you can eat delicious and healthy food without having to pack around a ton of extra weight.

Read about some of our favourite kayak trips below, and find out how to enter to win your meals for the weekend!

Tofino to Hot Springs Cove

If you’re looking for a way to spend a long weekend, you can’t go wrong with a trip to Tofino!

One fun way to explore the area is by getting out on the water and seeing the coast from a new vantage point.

While there are lots of beginner friendly areas and routes to try out, there’s one unforgettable trip to do if you’re an experienced kayaker and have a few extra days off around the long weekend. Starting from Tofino, you can take a 5-7 day trip by water all the way to Hot Springs Cove, one of the most magnificent destinations on the Island!

There are a few different companies that offer guided kayaking tours along the route, including Skils and KLN.

Della Falls Trail

Looking for a great kayak/hike combo trip? The Della Falls Trail in the Strathcona Provincial Park is a one-of-a-kind experience you’ll definitely want to check out.

The trailhead is only accessible by water. That means anyone hoping to enjoy the spectacular multi-day hike needs to take a helicopter, water taxi, or paddle out themselves. The trip across Great Central Lake is breathtaking in and of itself.

If you’re undertaking the ~30 km hike over May Long, be prepared for colder weather as there is sometimes still snow along the route as late as June.

Say hello to the local sea otter colony!

Did you know that just off the coast of Vancouver Island lives a lively colony of sea otters? You can launch your kayak from the northwest coast of the Island, by Mquqᵂin/Brooks Peninsula Provincial Park and explore an ocean alongside all kinds of marine life.

West Coast Expeditions offers multi-day kayak tours of the area: a four day tour, a five day tour and a six day tour.

Ready for a long weekend adventure? We got you covered!

No matter what kind of expedition you’ve got planned for May Long, Wild Edge Keto has delicious keto backpacking meals that will keep you full without filling up your pack.

Review the contest rules and fill out the form below for a chance to win a Traverse pack, which includes seven meals with a total value of $115.50:

  • 2 venison chili
  • 2 cajun jambalaya
  • 2 cuban Picadillo
  • 1 sesame ginger wild boar

That should be more than enough food to keep you going on your hiking, biking, or kayaking adventures!
