What is a PRP Facial?

Remember that photo Kim Kardashian posted in 2013 with blood on her face? That’s a PRP facial.

Famously known as “Vampire Facials,” PRP therapy is a trending medical procedure that is used to increase collagen and elastin production in the skin, leading to a plumper and more youthful look.

There are two main techniques used in this facial, the first being microneedling. Microneedling involves the use of tiny needles to stimulate your body’s collagen production and has been known to aid in treating acne scars and even stretch marks!

The second portion of the treatment is the PRP therapy, which involves blood being drawn from the client and put into a centrifuge to concentrate only the plasma. This plasma is later applied back into the skin to speed the healing process and further increase collagen production!

You can unsubscribe to the idea that “beauty is pain” because at Kelowna Medical Aesthetics, a numbing gel is applied to the area prior to beginning the process and clients typically report little discomfort with a mere pain level of 2/10.

Treatments take about one hour to complete depending on the area of application and clients are typically red for about three to four days, a feeling of dryness may also persist for up to two weeks.

What are the benefits of a PRP Facial?

Microneedling and PRP can be used to achieve better looking skin on several areas of the body including the face, neck, arms, and décollétage!

The treatment is a great non-surgical and minimally invasive solution to treating fine lines and wrinkles. It’s also effective for fading acne scars, lightening pigmentation, and building collagen.

If you’ve been looking for a way to improve your overall skin health and texture, this is it!
