Earlier this year, the show was at risk of cancellation by Fox.
The internet swiftly went into a fit of rage and created a huge push for the network to keep the show. Only two days after the cancellation, NBC picked up the show for its sixth season.

So why 18 episodes you ask? Simple. Because nine plus nine equals 18.
Either way, we get two and a half hours of additional entertainment.
