The Moonlight Movie Tour is back in the Central Okanagan this month.
From Aug. 20-22, there will be three outdoor movies played in West Kelowna, Lake Country and Kelowna, offering up a great family-friendly summer activity.
The annual initiative, a partnership between Beem Credit Union and BGC Okanagan, sees movies screened on a giant inflatable screen under the stars in a trio of local parks.
Here’s this year’s schedule:
- Tuesday, Aug. 20: Migration at Memorial Park in West Kelowna
- Wednesday, Aug. 21: Elemental at Swalwell Park in Lake Country
- Thursday, Aug. 22: Kung Fu Panda 4 at City Park in Kelowna
“We’re delighted to partner with Beem Credit Union and to be a part of the Moonlight Movie Tour,” says Richelle Leckey from BGC Okanagan.
“Proceeds from this event will help BGC Okanagan provide safe spaces for children and youth to experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.”
Attendance is free, but people are encouraged to bring a small donation to support BGC Okanagan along with money to buy concession stand treats.
Gates open at 7 pm for each showing before the movie starts at dusk, and families can bring lawn chairs and blankets to make their movie-watching experience more comfortable.
“We are thrilled to bring the magic of the Moonlight Movie Tour back to our communities this summer,” said Brian Harris, CEO of Beem Credit Union.
“This event is not just about enjoying a great movie under the stars; it’s about rallying together to support the incredible work of our local non-profits.”
