Indian Horse gets high praise after opening night

The Canadian film, Indian Horse, premiered in more than 100 select theatres across the country last night and is already receiving 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The new film features a seven-year-old Ojibway boy who gets taken to a Catholic residential school.

Clint Eastwood signed on as an executive producer after he saw the film and decided everyone needed to see it, according to director, Stephen S. Campanelli.

Saul experiences what many Indigenous Canadians experienced in the late 1950s, including the removal of his language, as well as numerous acts of violence throughout his young life.

In the midst of his painful experiences, Saul finds salvation in a Canadian pastime—hockey.

Adapted from Richard Wagamese's novel to the screen by Dennis Foon, Indian Horse is a survival story showcasing the strength of Indigenous peoples in the midst of the many atrocities.
