Actor Charlotte Rae died in her Los Angeles home on Sunday at the age of 92.
Rae was best known for playing the loving house mother Mrs. Garrett in the long running sitcom “The Facts of Life”.
A cause of death was not immediately available, but Rae was diagnosed last year with bone cancer after beating pancreatic cancer, according to her publicist, Harlan Boll.
Rae also starred as Mrs. Garrett in the first season of the comedy sitcom “Diff’rent Strokes” before taking the character with her for the spinoff “The Facts of Life”.
The series ran on NBC for nine seasons and earned Rae an Emmy nomination for her part.
Many have taken to social media to pay their respects to the actor:
I was just thinking about Charlotte Rae the other day when they announced the Facts of Life reboot and how hard it's going to be to replace her memorable Mrs. Garrett. RIP. pic.twitter.com/x4805A8qwi
