This abandoned sanitarium in B.C. has been turned into a terrifying escape room

If you having a crippling fear of being trapped underground, this one probably isn’t for you.

But, if you are looking for something that goes beyond your typical haunted house, you might want to check out this abandoned sanitarium.

Established in 1907, Tranquille Sanatorium began as a legend. A completely self sustaining community for the sick! It wasn't long before a school for mentally handicapped children as well as more residential buildings. Shortly thereafter, the property was forced to shut down and has remained abandoned since. The buildings are boarded and rumours of ghost hauntings are prevalent among locals and visitors alike.... . . . . . . #explorebc #passionpassport #afar #lonelyplanet #wonderfuldestinations #beautifulplaces #traveldudes #travelstoke #natgeotravelpic #bbctravel #livetravelchannel #beautifuldestinations #tlpicks #ig_shotz #travel #travelblog #travelblogger #wanderlust #explore #explorecanada #awesomeearth #beautifulplaces #awesomepix #natgeo #aroundtheworldpix #photography #hdr #mobilephotography

This is the first season of the Escape from Padova attraction, created at the abandoned sanitarium at Tranquille Fresh Farms in Kamloops.

The escape room is a first of its kind in Canada, as it’s the first tunnel escape room with actors.

Every year, this historic property looks for ways to be creative in telling the story of Tranquille.

Annette Mcleod, owner of Tranquille Fresh Farms, has created an escape room experience that is being integrated with this year’s tunnel theatre production, Padova: The Untold Story.

“We tell true events that have happened through interactive tunnel theatre. You interact and move through the tunnels with the actors into different rooms,” said Mcleod.

The premise of the story is that you snuck into the deserted facility after finding the entrance to the tunnels. And, like in many horror movies, the moment you probably want to turn back, the door slams shut and you’re trapped inside. You have no choice but to try and escape.

“You’ve snuck into Padova, now you have to find a way to get out. Can you make it out alive?” reads the website.

Think you can make your escape from Padova?
