Celebrate Canada Day with Festivals Kelowna | July 1st Events and Activities

As the nation gears up to celebrate Canada Day, Festivals Kelowna promises a day packed with exciting activities, delicious food, and spectacular fireworks. Renata Mills, Executive Director of Festivals Kelowna, shares what’s in store for the community on July 1.

"Canada Day is a significant event for us, and we strive to offer something for everyone," says Mills. "We have a fantastic team working tirelessly to ensure a memorable celebration for all."

Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Live Entertainment: Three stages of live music will be set up, including the TD Beach Stage, Kiwanis Family Stage, and the Parks Live Power Stage. "I'm a rocker at heart," Mills laughs. "The Parks Live Power Stage features an amazing lineup, with Black Pontiac headlining and bringing a Blink-182 vibe."
  2. Food Vendors: With 20 different food vendors, attendees can indulge in various treats. "You can eat your way across the country," Mills jokes, highlighting the diverse culinary offerings.
  3. Giant Birthday Cake: Sponsored by Coldwell Banker Horizon Realty, the massive cake is a crowd favourite. "The Savon bakers start early to prepare this cake, and it’s always a hit," Mills notes.
  4. KidZone and Activities: The Century 21 Assurance Realty KidZone will have games and activities for children and those young at heart. Additionally, the BC Dragoons will display impressive military vehicles.
  5. Fireworks: Despite concerns, the fireworks show is on. "We were able to secure a last-minute go-ahead," says Mills. "Big Bang Fireworks from Alberta will put on a unique show starting at 10 PM from Tugboat Beach."
  6. Other Activities: Folkfest at Prospera Place and a Canada Day concert by the Kelowna City Band at the Arts Common will also be part of the festivities.

To ensure you don’t miss out, Mills encourages everyone to visit for detailed schedules and maps.

"From live music to food, games, and fireworks, there’s something for everyone," Mills concludes. "We’re looking forward to seeing the community come together and celebrate."
