RDCO’s annual Spooktacular Halloween event happening in Mission Creek park Saturday

There will be some Halloween fun at Mission Creek Regional Park this weekend.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) is hosting its annual Spooktacular event on Saturday from 5-8 pm.

It’s essentially a dusk-into-evening walk along pumpkin-lined Mission Creek Greenway trails, beginning at the main entrance off Springfield Road.

“Don your best Halloween costume and stroll the trails to admire the creatively carved pumpkins lighting the way,” says an RDCO statement.

“Prizes for the funniest, cutest, scariest and most original pumpkin design will be awarded and announced on our social media channels.”

Carved pumpkins with battery-powered tealights inside should be dropped off between 11 am and 3 pm Saturday to be considered for the contest.

While everyone is welcome to attend this family-friendly event, people are encouraged to leave their dogs at home.

The Spooktacular event is free to attend, but attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food and cash donations for the Central Okanagan Food Bank.
