Bartenders from around the Okanagan competed in the 6th annual Okanagan Spirits Craft Distillery Mixoff on Thursday.
More than 250 people attended the event to see some interesting drink creations get showcased to a panel of judges.
Each of the cocktails needed to include two Okanagan Spirit ingredients, along with a local wine, beer or cider, which meant these creations were truly local.
The competition was tight at the Laurel Packing House, but in the end it was Salt and Brick’s Rowan Henderson who won the Judges Choice Cocktail for his drink ‘A Smokey Entertainment.’
Shane O’Dwyer of Global Café & Tapas took home the People’s Choice Drink with his ‘Peaches and Dreams.’
“The creativity and originality the competitors showed was amazing. These bartenders continue to raise the bar every year!”, said Okanagan Spirits Craft Distillery owner Tyler Dyck.
“It’s so great to see the bartenders working as a team with their Chef’s to pair the drinks with amazing food!”
It wasn’t just the drinks that were rewarded, as Cam Taves and Jerry Hines from The Train Station Pub won People’s Choice Best Bite for their delicious ‘Brioche French Toast.’
