Allegedly impaired Kamloops woman pulled over with baby in back seat

An early-morning traffic stop resulted in a Kamloops woman, who had a baby in her back seat, being taken off the road and issued a 90-day driving prohibition.

It happened around 3:35 am today when an RCMP officer noticed a vehicle driving well below the speed limit on Vicars Road.

“After following the vehicle for several minutes, the officer conducted a traffic stop and noted a baby in the backseat,” said Cst. Crystal Evelyn.

“A roadside breath test was demanded by police, but the woman allegedly refused to provide an adequate sample, an act which carries the same penalty as providing a sample that registers a fail reading.”

As a result, the woman was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and 30-day vehicle impound for refusing to provide a breath sample.

The RCMP did not specify whether the baby stayed with the woman following the traffic stop.

Anyone with information related to this impaired driving investigation is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
