Chase RCMP asks residents not to bring them explosives

Just over one week after the Barriere RCMP detachment had to temporarily close due to a resident bringing in what they thought were explosives, it looks like Chase RCMP dealt with a similar situation a week earlier.

According to Cpl. Scott Linklater, on May 30th, a woman walked into the Chase detachment with what appeared to be a military mortar round.

Police secured the items and waited for the Canadian Forces who disposed of the large ammunition.

"Police ask that anyone finding or wanting to surrender explosives to not bring them to the Police Detachment," said Cpl. Linklater.

If residents ever find explosive material, they are asked to leave it where it is and call the police. Officers will find a way to have the item moved safely where it won't pose a threat to the public.
