(Update - 1:30 pm): Kamloops RCMP's investigation into a fatal motor vehicle incident that killed two people over the weekend continues.
On Sunday, the registered owner of the truck was located and arrested. He has since been released with no charges at this time.
Police and Thomspon Rivers University confirmed the four people involved were in their 20s and international students.
Kamloops RCMP Serious Crimes Unit, Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Services, and Forensic Identification are fully engaged as the investigation continues.
The BC Coroners Service is also conducting an investigation. Due to the privacy of the deceased, their names will not be released.
(Update: Nov. 3 @ 1:30 pm): The registered owner of the pick-up truck involved in the fatal collision in Kamloops, which killed two people and injured two others early on Sunday morning, has been located and arrested.
The man’s involvement with the incident is still under investigation.
An update on the condition of the two occupants of the car involved has not been provided.
Mounties are still asking for witnesses of the collision to come forward and are specifically hoping to speak with a female who was on foot at the scene, leaving shortly after the incident occurred.
(Original Story: Nov. 3 @ 9: 22 am): Two people have died following an early morning collision in Kamloops on Sunday.
Members of the Kamloops RCMP were called to 1st Avenue and Battle Street shortly after 2 am, following reports of a motor vehicle collision between a car with four occupants and a pick-up truck.
Upon police arrival, the driver of the involved pick-up had already left the scene and two of the car’s occupants were found deceased.
The other occupants were taken to hospital, one in life-threatening condition and the other with non-life threatening injuries.
The Kamloops RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident or who may have information about the driver of the pick-up truck involved, to call 250-828-3000.
