Residents are coming together to support a Kamloops teen who suffered a significant head injury this month.
Bonnie Barker started a GoFundMe for Brandon Heady, an 18-year-old who was sent to the hospital in rough shape following a motor vehicle incident on Hwy 1. Heady required brain surgery after doctors reportedly found a growing blood clot in the area.
"He has always been a hardworking and kind kid that deserves some help and support during this time on his road to recovery," wrote Barker. "Times right now are hard enough for our youth and this just added to Brandon’s plate of life’s struggles."
When news broke that Heady was hurt, multiple residents posted about interactions they've had with the McDonald's drive-thru worker. All posts showed love for Heady's many interesting greetings he gave to those coming to get food.
"Rave this young fellow some get well wishes," wrote one Facebook user. "He's an Icon at McDonald's Sahali drive-thru... All the Best Brandon Headey."
In two days, the fundraiser has brought in close to $900. The goal is set at $4,000, which will cover Heady's expenses while he is unable to work.
