The Kamloops Airport has announced that their traveller numbers are up from 2017, where the impact from wildfires in the area was considerable.
This time last year, the airport saw 67,685 travellers, whereas this year, they’ve seen 86, 610 in the third quarter, a 22% change. In 2018, they’ve welcomed a total of 256,921 people so far, compared to a total of 228,936 last year.
Kamloops and surrounding areas experienced a reduction in visibility and air quality in August due to wildfire smoke, though there were only three days where commercial flight operations were affected at Kamloops Airport.
The airport says that passenger numbers continue to reflect positive growth with the highest third quarter ever for Kamloops Airport, as well as the best July, August and September on record, exceeding the previous best third quarter of 2015 by 8%.
