The last weekend of May was a relatively calm one for the Kamloops RCMP detachment.
From 9 am on Friday, May 26 until Monday, May 29, the detachment received 388 calls for service.
Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, the Kamloops RCMP’s media relations officer, provided a few highlights from the weekend.

Officers were called to the 400-block of St. Paul Street for a report of a person starting fights Friday afternoon. A male suspect was quickly located nearby. A release says the man was reportedly responsible for generating several other calls for service in the area as well. He was arrested and lodged in the cells then released without process once he sobered up.
The Kamloops RCMP received an odd call shortly before 10:30 pm on Friday night. The caller reported a person in Santa pants with what appeared to be a handgun was wandering around McArthur Island. When officers arrived, they located a group of youths attempting to flee.
During the investigation, officers located a pair of 3D-printed brass knuckles, but no one wearing Santa pants or in the possession of a handgun. A youth suspect was located the next day and surrendered an airsoft handgun and was given a warning.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, officers received a call that a man had been stabbed in the 18700-block of the East Trans Canada Highway. When officers arrived on scene, paramedics were already attending to the man who was suffering from non-life threatening injuries to his hand. No suspect has been located and an investigation continues.
One woman was taken to the hospital and a man was arrested following a report of an assault on Sunday night. Officers responded to a house on Tranquille Road at about 8:40 pm where they found a woman with non-life threatening injuries. A suspect was located on Sherwood Drive and arrested for assault causing bodily harm. He was given conditions and a court date.
Officers conducted a routine traffic stop on Sunday night at about 11:15 pm. Officers stopped a BMW that was registered to a prohibited driver that was also missing its front licence plate and had a damaged tail light. Officers located the stolen firearm and another stolen license plate inside the care. The driver was arrested, but released with conditions and a court date. He also received violation tickets under the Motor Vehicle Act.
