A man and woman have been charged after an incident of reckless driving involving a stolen vehicle in Kamloops on Wednesday.
According to police, a pick-up truck was stolen on Friday, but spotted by the owner on Wednesday. When the owner tried to prevent the vehicle from being stolen again, he hopped on the flatbed of the truck and was careened throughout the city.
Police explained that the owner was hanging on for his life as the vehicle hit a power pole and three other vehicles, reaching speeds of over 100 km/h. It later crashed into a field where it burst into flames. The owner of the vehicle wasn't hurt, though the two accused were sent to the hospital with minor injuries.
Crystal Dorrington and Derrick Pearson are accused of assault with a weapon, theft over $5,000, and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
