School District 73 has announced that all play structures at school grounds will be closed effective immediately.
The public can expect closure signage to be installed in the next few days at elementary schools throughout the district.
However, fields and play courts at school grounds will not be closed, but people can expect social distancing signage will be posted.
“Schools are closed, our students are at home,” said Alison Sidow, Superintendent.
“We are taking these additional steps to limit groups from gathering on the play structures, courts and fields to protect our students, their families, and our community.”
SD73 has been in contact with the City of Kamloops regarding the closure of municple play structures and has been advised that Bylaw Services will be closely monitoring social distancing at all City parks and other public gathering areas.
If social distancing practices are not being adhered to, the District may close its playfields and courts in the near future.
