The Kidney Foundation's annual Kidney walk is set to go down in the River City this Sunday.
Residents of all ages are invited to take part in and fundraise for the event which supports research into kidney disease.
According to the foundation, one in 10 Canadians have kidney disease but don't even know it yet. Part of the walk's initiative is to change that narrative.
“It is really heartwarming to see a community come together like this and rally in support of kidney patients – it truly means the world to them," said Marie Hesse, Director, Community Initiatives at the BC & Yukon Kidney Branch. "The Kidney Walk could not happen without the tremendous support of thousands of volunteers, donors, and sponsors, and it is thanks to them that The Kidney Walk has grown to become one of our biggest success stories.”
Resident can join the walk at McDonald Park with registration happening at 10 am. Opening ceremonies start at 10:45 while the actual walk goes down at 11 am.
