Victim of suspicious Westsyde trailer fire passes away

Kamloops RCMP has confirmed that a woman who was pulled from a trailer fire in Westsyde has died from her injuries.

According to police, at 3:40 a.m. on Monday, RCMP were notified by Kamloops Fire Rescue of a structure fire in the 800 block of Grant Road. When officers arrived, they found the trailer was fully engulfed in flames. A woman was also pulled from the fire with life-threatening injuries.

Fire investigators with KFR and the RCMP will be examining the scene today. It is not known how long the investigation will take or when the results will be available.

Police went on to say that the youths taken into custody on Monday have been released. Their involvement, if any, is still under investigation.

Friends of the victim have identified her as Fiona France. A Go Fund Me has been set up to cover the cost of a funeral and other expenses.
