At long last, the return of Zellers to Kamloops is upon us.
The iconic Canadian brand has begun its comeback tour by opening nine stores in Ontario and three in Alberta last week.
But that’s just 12 of 25 planned openings for Zellers within The Bay stores across Canada and another 12 are coming next week.
That includes the lone British Columbian location outside of the Lower Mainland, which is at Aberdeen Mall in Kamloops and will open to the public on Tuesday.
It comes more than 10 years after Zellers closed down its Kamloops store in Sahali Mall.
The return of Zellers to Kamloops also means the Zellers Diner on Wheels will be rolling through town soon.
It’s a concept that Zellers came up with in late January after receiving plenty of demand for the return of the beloved diner that was once a hotspot to grab grub.
With input from the public, the old diner menu was narrowed down to five “nostalgia-inspired” items that are being sold from food trucks across the country.
“The trucks are just refuelling,” Zellers announced in a social media post this morning. “They’ll be back on the road and pulling up in all these communities over a series of days.”
The schedule for the Zellers Diner on Wheels, and when it will be in Kamloops, will be announced in the coming days.
