The Kelowna Gospel Mission has announced an expansion to its dental clinic and will be able to help even more patients beginning this summer.
The dental clinic opened a decade ago with two chairs says Gospel Mission Executive Director Randy Benson.
"When we started this clinic 10 years ago, we had no idea how many people in our area cannot afford access to dental care," says Benson, "there is incredible need, and with our small clinic, we are unable to meet those needs in a timely manner. Therefore, we are excited to expand our clinic from 2 to 5 full clinical operatory chairs."
The new clinic will be renovated between May and July with the re-opening scheduled for August. Since opening in 2004 the dental clinic has provided $2 million in care and treated close to 3,000 patients.
This past Thursday night, the clinic's volunteer dentists were presented with the 2014 Anita Tozer Memorial Award for exemplary community service.
