Both women were pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver and passenger of the other vehicle were taken to hospital for treatment. According to the BC Coroners Service, roads were wet at the time and road conditions are being investigated as a possible factor in the incident. The road was closed for about six hours following the crash, with traffic detoured through Stickle Road.
