People living in the Okanagan Valley are dealing with very smoky conditions as smoke from the Washington wildfires continue to push north.
Photos and video of the haze show just how different the conditions have been over a matter of days. Okanagan Running Info has put together a video which shows the difference between Thursday and Sunday down at the waterfront. Conditions were absolutely perfect without a cloud in the sky on Thursday, August 20th. By Sunday, August 23rd the entire city of Kelowna was blanketed in a thick haze of smoke, which is causing breathing problems for many.
Somewhat SMOKEY at the KELOWNA DOWNTOWN WATERFRONT!Can you see the difference between Thursday and Sunday? ;-) > CLICK on the HD in the right bottom corner, to see the video SHARPER! We saved & uploaded this video in 854 x 480 pixels, so watch it on the smaller screen, not full screen! <

A smoky skies advisory remains in place for the entire valley including the Central Okanagan, North Okanagan, and South Okanagan. The current air quality index for the Central Okanagan is also very high at 16, on a scale which usually runs from one to 10.
The public is being encouraged not to do any strenuous activity while outdoors.
