Kelowna Woman Named Business Leader of the Year

Theresa Arsenault has been named business leader of the year for 2015 by the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce. The award celebrates Arsenault for her contribution to the business community within the city.

For the past 30 years Arsenault has been practicing business and estate planning law as a partner with Pushor Mitchell LLP. Other than being a partner she has served 18 years on the management committee, four of them as managing partner.

Many of her clients rely on her for her expertise in commercial transactions, and real estate developments. Arsenault presents at continuing legal education seminars on First Nation land development, real estate matters, and estate planning topics as well. She was awarded the Designation Queens Counsel in 2009 in recognition of her outstanding contributions in her profession.

Arsenault moved to Kelowna with her husband Stuart Marshall 30 years ago, and was immediately determined to help the city develop into the place where she wanted to raise her family.

Since then she has been the director and vice president of economic development for the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce, a director and chair of the board of directors for United Way, a board member and vice-chair of the KGH Foundation, and a trustee for the B.C. Cancer Agency.

With the help of Arsenault and her desire for higher education in the Okanagan Valley she successfully led the “Getting There by Degrees” campaign, which has granted Okanagan Collage the ability to offer four year courses. Arsenault continues her fight for better education by sitting as co-chair on the External Advisory Council for UBCO. Arsenault is passionate about the successes UBCO has had with its Aboriginal Access program as well as the outreach programs to bring higher education to the community.

Arsenault will pick up her award at this year’s ceremony at the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort on Wednesday, October 21st.

This will be the Kelowna Chamber’s 28th annual Business Excellence Awards, which happens to fall during Small Business Week.
