A 25-year-old Kelowna woman is facing impaired driving charges after she was arrested at a fast food restaurant drive-thru.
RCMP spotted the woman driving dangerously along Clement Avenue near Clifton Road as she narrowly missed colliding with three parked vehicles Saturday morning.
Police tried to pull the woman over but she did not notice the RCMP cruiser behind her with flashing lights and sirens. The woman pulled into the drive-thru of a restaurant in the 2100 block of Harvey Avenue when police took her into custody.
“Samples of the driver’s breath were taken, analyzed and determined to be almost three times the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood," said Cst. Jesse O'Donaghey. "This had the potential to end in tragedy, fortunately it was the quick actions of the police who safely removed this allegedly dangerous drunk driver from our roads."
The woman is facing several criminal charges and has been released from police custody.
"Kelowna RCMP is asking that if you plan on drinking this Christmas holiday season, please do not drive," said Cst. O'Donaghey. "Arrange to have a designated driver, take public transit, or take a cab home, as police 'Counter Attack' road blocks will be everywhere."
