“The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in the hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.” - And he was!
Kelowna Santas would like to thank the community and everyone involved in providing presents for 397 kids from 175 families this Christmas. On December 21st, some fifty volunteers showed up to the Wrap Party at Orchard Ford to wrap the toys and gifts that would be delivered to the families before Christmas Day.
At the Wrap Party, one of the volunteers mentioned, “This is such a great cause and it feels great to participate. Being here now though, I can see that the older children are often overlooked. They are expected to understand the tough situation that their family is in, and that just isn’t fair. It’s easy to buy cool toys for younger children, but the kids age 8 and up deserve a great gift as well. Next year, I will definitely be shopping for gifts for the older children!”
Kelowna Santas is so grateful to the community for supporting this cause and donating more than enough gifts and toys for deserving children. As the group wrapped hundreds of Lego kits, hockey tickets, and Barbie dolls to be delivered to the registered families, they quickly realized that Kelowna had outdone itself and there would be an excess of toys and gifts left over. The remaining toys and gifts were then donated to another worthy cause, in hopes of reaching even more children.
KelownaNow is proud to be a sponsor of this initiative, aiding families that could use a helping hand. Bell Media, Kelowna Capital News, Orchard Ford, and Diamond Delivery also sponsored the event this year and helped to make it a huge success. Another huge thank-you goes out to the participating drop off locations that encouraged people to donate to Kelowna Santas.
