UBCO Student Union Raised $30K Worth of Medical Supplies for Syria

The UBCO Student Union has collected $30,000 worth of medical supplies and they'll be sending them to Syria.

Thank You UBCO

Thank you to the countless volunteers that made the Syrian Medical Relief Drive a success. We collected $30 000 in retail donations and showed how the UBCO community and Kelowna came together. There were countless volunteers and students that took this initiative to heart and made it so powerful. Not only have you shown the refugees in Canada hope, but you have given me hope for our great community. One of my colleagues and friend deserves special recognition. Thank you Fatima Zahra Sentissi for everything you have done. You have shown us brilliancy, work ethic, and compassion.Thank you UBCO. We did it.Romey JaswalVP Internal

The University of British Columbia Student Union Okanagan (UBCSUO) was working with the "Not Just Tourists” medical project and for two months collected different medical supplies.

“We collected $30 000 in retail donations and showed how the UBCO community and Kelowna came together. There were countless volunteers and students that took this initiative to heart and made it so powerful. Not only have you shown the refugees in Canada hope, but you have given me hope for our great community,” the UBCSUO Facebook page stated.

The project included the sponsorship of two refugee students, the medical supply donation drive, and the Syrian charity gala.

The charity gala was held on March 10th.

Tom Macauley, current president of the UBSUO posted on Facebook about the highly successful project.
