The first Kelowna Closet Cleanout of the year took place this Saturday at the Parkinson's Recreation Center and it was a huge success.
This ladies fashion flea market takes place twice per year, once in the fall and again in spring. The event allows ladies to buy and sell pre-loved, gently used clothing at a bargain price. The event started at 10:00 a.m. but the line up was already down the sidewalk by 9:30. As soon as the doors opened women rushed in, shopping bags in hand to begin searching through the piles of clothing and accessories.
The treasures to find consisted of clothing, shoes, jewellery, purses and even hats. There truly was something for everyone at this event as they had petite sizes as well as plus sized items. Many of the pieces were on for great deals, the Paws for a Cause table had the initiative in place of filling a whole shopping bag of clothes and only paying twenty dollars.
Something great about the Closet Cleanout events is that for each one that happens a different charity is chosen to receive a portion of the proceeds. This year the charity chosen was local grassroots , not for profit charity, Mamas for Mamas. Mama's for Mama's strives to reduce poverty for families in Kelowna as well as across the Okanagan.
This event is a great way to not only find adorable fashion items but to support a local charity. Everyone in attendance had fun searching through the clothing like it was a treasure hunt. There were tons of great vendors and even more great smiles.
