A battle of epic proportions will take place on Saturday as the best lip syncers in the region come together for a great cause.
The Lip Sync Battle will take place at the Habitat on May 7 and will not only make you laugh, but raise funds for the Sister For A Cause charity. The organization was started by two sisters, Liz Dunning and Emma Miller and every month in 2016 the two will host a fundraiser. The goal is to raise enough money to sponsor memberships for 35 children to participate in YMCA recreational programs.
Currently one in five children in the Okanagan require financial assistance to participate in YMCA recreational programs. Dunning and Miller hope to raise $8,500 this year to provide funding to some of those who could benefit from the programming.
In Jan. the sisters held a Bachelor pool and encouraged participants to donate and guess who they thought would be chosen as the love choice for the show. Dunning and Miller raised $190 at this event. In Feb. the sisters held a bottle drive which raised another $200 and in Mar. they had a sold out event at Rose’s Pub which offered dinner and a drink for $15.
The May lip sync event will feature Susan Knight and John Stone from Q103 as hosts, and was made possible by title sponsor Interior Savings, Skaha Breeze Condominiums, and Habitat. Judges will include Kelowna Family Y general manager Cory Krist, comedian David Kopp, and Lucy Hazelwood from LUKI Dance Productions.
Tickets for the 19+ event start at $10 for general admission or $20 for VIP access. There promises to be entertaining teams, and perhaps even a special guest or two who will not only surprise you but blow your socks off.
