It’s the end of an era in Kelowna as a nightclub that has entertained people for nearly three decades is closing its doors.
After 27 years in business, Flashbacks will say goodbye with one final show this coming weekend. The owners took to social media to make the announcement that the doors would be closing Sat., May 28.
“With a humble heart and gratitude, the Flashbacks team has decided that this weekend will be our last time opening the doors before shutting them for good.”
Citing no specific reason for the closure, management says it was a combination of factors that led the team to the decision to “leave on a high note”, on their own terms.
The nightclub on Ellis Street was known for its shows, concerts, and endless parties over the years. Less than a year ago, the owners of Flashbacks opened a second space just down the alley as the Cannery Lounge opened its doors on July 31, 2015. The new cocktail lounge would feature live music, reggae nights, after parties and more.
But the owners have decided to also close this second space, again for no specific reason, only stating that this weekend would be its last.
Flashbacks will host one last show on Friday night featuring hip hop artist Chingy, and a goodbye party on Saturday.
There is speculation that the nightclub will rebrand and reopen with different branding, but that has not been confirmed. It’s anyone’s guess as to what will happen to the iconic building but the memories made will last a lifetime.
