Thunderstorms predicted for Thompson Okanagan, again

Environment Canada has once again issued a severe thunderstorm watch for many areas in the province, including South Thompson and the Okanagan Valley.

“Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles,” they warn. “Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.”

The severe thunderstorm watch means conditions are favourable for thunderstorms that could bring large hail, damaging winds and torrential rainfall.

If you hear thunder, you are urged to stay indoors.

This is the third thunderstorm watch issued for the area in less than a week. Kelowna is expected to reach a high of 27 C Monday, with temperatures over 30 C by the end of the week. Kamloops should hit 29 C on Monday and up to 34 C by Sunday.
