Kelowna RCMP searching for suspect after man shot in Rutland

<who> Photo Credit: KelownaNow.comKelowna RCMP is searching for a suspect after a morning shooting occurred in the Rutland area.

According to police, at 10:10 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2700 block of Highway 97 North. When police arrived they learned that a man was shot in the lower limb and transported to Kelowna General Hospital for treatment. His condition is currently unknown.

RCMP is searching for a vehicle described as a lowered grey full sized GMC SUV believed to be involved in the incident.

“The investigation is in its early stages, however, the RCMP do not believe that this was a random attack. The Kelowna RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) continue to investigate,” said RCMP Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey.

Police are looking for witnesses or anyone who may have information regarding the shooting and ask that they contact the Kelowna RCMP GIS at 250-762-3300. Remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or by texting your tip to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
