The community is stepping up to help a Kelowna teacher who is waiting for a life-changing prognosis.
Kevin Littlechilds, 40, was watching TV with his family on July 18 when he suffered a seizure and was rushed to Kelowna General Hospital by ambulance.
Doctors discovered he had a brain tumor, but he is still awaiting test results to find out if the tumor is malignant or not.
Littlechilds and his wife Dawn have two children, Hayden, 9, and Isla, 6.
He has taught at Okanagan Adventist Academy for 13 years, taking students on class trips and being a well-known leader in the community throughout that time.
Friends of his have started a GoFundMe page in hopes to alleviate some of the financial strain on the family.
“No matter the outcome, we want to support them financially and we ask for your help. The finances will go straight to Dawn to help with Kevin's recovery,” wrote page creator, Juanita Straub.
The prognosis is expected to be shared within the next week, although the tumor is already beginning to affect his memory and speech.
People haven’t hesitated to help out the man they describe in such a positive way.
So far, $550 has been raised in four days, but their goal is $10,000.
“His passion for music (and) having fun has made an impact on so many,” said friend, Angie Clowry.
