It was a windy evening in Kelowna on Sunday as gusts reached up to 48 km/hr and at least one business suffered significant damage as a result.

Between 6 and 11 p.m. the wind picked up in the city with gusts ranging from 32 to 48 km/hr and flipped at least one float plane on Okanagan Lake. A float plane could be seen at Rose’s dock area on its nose, on top of a dock following the wild weather. At least one dock also broke loose Sunday night as a result of the wind storm.

The water near the Yacht Club was littered with debris early Monday morning. It is unclear whether the float plane spilled any gasoline into the water as a result of crashing into the dock. The strong winds also knocked down trees, some on power lines causing outages for residents from West Kelowna to Lake Country.

KelownaNow will update readers on the situation as soon as more information becomes available.
