You need to do these 10 things in Kelowna before summer ends

The summer is coming to an end and that means it’s time to quickly scratch some things off the 2016 bucket list.

KelownaNow has compiled a list of 10 things to do here in the Okanagan before sweater weather hits.

  1. Catch a flick at the Starlight Drive-In

Love my nights under the stars watching awesome movies #drivein #suicidésquad #weekend #datenight #movies #underthestars #trucks #sky #summer #bc #enderby #starlightdrivein

It may seem like a thing of the past, but drive-in movie theatres are a trendy summer activity. You can pull your car into the Enderby field, munch on delicious popcorn and watch a newly released film. You could even fill a truck bed with blankets and pillows. Now that sounds lovely!

  1. Artisto Gelato

Some of our favourite flavours this year! #artistogelato #kelowna #gelato

I scream… you scream… we all scream for… Gelato!

The hot weather won’t be in Kelowna forever, so why not visit Artisto Gelato and try their handcrafted gelato.

  1. Visit the Kelowna Art Gallery

The Kelowna Art Gallery is the perfect place to go if you’re hoping to stay indoors. The gallery is located in the heart of Kelowna’s Cultural District and visiting will bring you knowledge and the desire to pick up a paintbrush yourself.

Hey, if you visit on a Sunday, you can take part in Family Sundays, which gives people a chance to get creative with guided hands-on art activities.

  1. Cruise around Kelowna on a cool bike

Stuck in the moment.

If you’re tired of walking the waterfront... bike it!

Cruiser bike rentals by New Wave Fitness is a fun summer activity to try out before summer comes to an end. Ride in style with these dip-down handlebar bikes and be seen throughout the city.

  1. Fly high while parasailing

What could be more exhilarating than flying high above Okanagan Lake? Doing it attached to a huge parasail is probably the answer you’re looking for.

Ogopogo parasail is a summer must-do here in the Okanagan and if you haven’t tried it yet, you’re missing out. They offer single, tandem and triple parasailing, so call up a friend and head down to Okanagan Lake.

  1. Climb the Wibit mountain

Best idea ever!!! #wibit #wibitwaterpark #wibitkelowna

While you’re down by the water, get suited up in a life jacket and try out the Wibit park. The park is open every day until 8 p.m., so you can jump, slide and cannonball until your fingers and toes turn into prunes.

  1. Float the channel

Now there are two popular channels you can float. There’s the Penticton channel and the Enderby channel. We’re not telling you what the better channel is, we want you to tell us!

Let's do this again ❤️❤️❤️💋💋💋😘😘😘 @jennbobski @alyssamazur #enderbychannel #gooned

Both channels will leave you sun-kissed and relaxed, so whichever one you choose, whether it be north or south, enjoy your float!

  1. Hike Myra Canyon

If you’re hoping to get in a hike before the end of summer hits, try Myra Canyon. You can either walk the beautiful old trestles or you can hop on a bike and cruise them. The views you will see won't disappoint.

  1. Swim into Bear Creek falls

It’s time to chase some waterfalls and take a refreshing dip. Across the road from the Bear Creek Provincial Park, you will find trails that you can hike. If you want to take it one step further, you will need to swim through a channel to make it to the falls.

  1. Cuddling kangaroos

And lastly, what list of Kelowna activities is complete without mentioning the beloved kangaroo farm? Spend a morning or afternoon cuddling baby kangaroos in blankets and visiting other farm animals.

Three of these activities are featured in KelownaNow’s Ultimate Summer Pass. The pass allows people to experience some of the amazing activities in Kelowna. Passes can be picked up when you see the KelownaNow Now You KNow cruiser around the city.
