It’s almost time to walk around downtown Kelowna, eat local goodies and win free prizes. It’s the Taste of Downtown event!
The event, hosted by Downtown Kelowna, is a one-day eating contest. People can walk from restaurant to restaurant, eating food and getting check marks on their event card passport.
Downtown Kelowna said that if you ate at a different place in downtown Kelowna for every meal, you wouldn’t eat at the same place for over a month.
Can you imagine?
So many tasty treats to eat and drink in our little city. We must try them all!
The Taste of Downtown event is a self-guiding walking tour of restaurants, pubs and cafes on Saturday, Sept. 24, from noon until 3 p.m.
People wanting to take part must grab a “passport” which will have different things that you have to complete. For example: tasty a yummy free sample.
The passports have to be picked up before the event. They will be available starting on Friday, Sept. 9 at 9 a.m. from Mosaic Books on Bernard Avenue. There’s a minimum $2 donation for the passport and all money will be given to the Kelowna Community Food Bank.
After you fill your tummies, you have to enter into win the big prizes! Full passports can be dropped off at the Rotary Centre for the Arts and in front of Mosaic Books before 4 p.m.
Prizes that are up for grabs include:
Grand prize
* Delta Grand Okanagan Resort – Overnight stay
* Kelowna Actors Studio – Dinner theatre tickets for two
* Kelowna Rockets – Dinner for four at Manhattan Point and four Kelowna Rockets hockey game tickets
* Downtown Kelowna Association - $250 to spend in Downtown
Second prize
* Rotary Centre for the Arts – Four tickets to the theatre
* Antico Pizza Napoletana – a $75 gift certificate
* Downtown Kelowna Association - $150 to spend in Downtown
Third prize
* Downtown Kelowna Association - $150 to spend in Downtown
* Gift certificate(s) from Downtown Kelowna restaurant(s).
There are 33 restaurants taking part in this year’s event. The prize winners will be announced on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
