Third Space Coffee giving back to customers for Gratitude Month

Third Space Coffee in Kelowna is showing their customers how grateful they are for them all day Monday to kick off the first event for Gratitude Month.

Cup of Gratitude Day will run from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Oct. 3, with the cafe offering 10 per cent off of all purchases.

Carlee Turner, cafe manager at Third Space Coffee, said on top of that, they'll be starting their gratitude wall, where people can write on a card what they are grateful for and post it to the wall.

"I love the idea of practicing gratefulness and encouraging those around you, challenging those around you, to understand that we have so much and there is so much that we get to be grateful for and we often forget it," Turner said.

Every week in October, Third Space Coffee will be picking cards off the wall and whoever wrote it will win a prize.

The coffee shop will also be donating part of their profits from Oct. 3 to the gratitude campaign.

"It's such a unique project and I'm just so excited to see what it does in our office building, full of people who come in here everyday, and I'm excited to see the effect it has on this community," Turner said.

Gratitude Month, initiated by Third Space Coffee's partner company Third Space Foundation, just started on Oct. 1.

Because of their association with the Foundation, Turner said they really aim to be part of the community.

"It's important for us to practice gratitude and encourage and challenge people in gratitude," she said, explaining how unburdening gratitude can be. "We're in a culture that is heavy with entitlement and is heavy with needing to claim the next iPhone or the next big thing so gratitude, in a way, reminds us of what we need.

"Be grateful that you get what you need and be grateful for your extra luxuries."
