Kelowna mayor gets on board with Gratitude Month

If you’re still considering joining the Gratitude Project in Kelowna, it could be as simple as taking five minutes out of your day to pause.

The Gratitude Project Daily Guide takes you through 31 Daily Grateful Living Practices throughout the month of October.

The daily tasks range from really quick actions to things that take a little more time.

If there is one thing on this list that you would like to try every day, you can, or you can try a new one each day. The important part is taking time to notice all the greatness in your life and appreciate things around you.

Even Kelowna Mayor Colin Basran is involved, encouraging residents to take part in any way they can.

“It’s going to have so many positive spin offs in our community,” he said.

There are two guides, one for students and one for adults.

One example on the student guide is, “Spend five minutes writing down three things you are grateful for today.” Another is, “Bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the local food bank. Spend a moment reflecting on how fortunate you are to have food on your table.”

On the adult guide, participants are prompted to write in a journal, share recipes with others and unplug from technology. There even a few that are specific to Kelowna.

If you want to follow along, it’s not too late, and you still have the rest of the month to be grateful!

Download the guides on the Gratitude Project website.
