Thousands of flyers supposedly being delivered by Canada Post, somehow ended up at a construction site in West Kelowna this morning.
"I got a phone call this morning about a very angry customer at our store," said Kelowna's Lakehouse Home Store Owner Ben Boschman. “He had a truck load of flyers that had been dumped at his construction site, and he was upset.”
As far as Boschman was concerned, Canada Post had delivered the flyers two weeks ago.
Boschman says at least six boxes, containing 450 flyers each, did not make it to their intended households.
“The West Kelowna man took the time to load my flyers in the back of his truck and drive them down to my store on Bernard Avenue,” said Boschman. “Imagine, that took him a lot of time on Christmas eve to do.”
Already conflicted by sending out paper flyers for environmental reasons, Boshman and his Lakehouse store had even chosen Canada Post’s “Precision Targeter” method of delivery, which costs the small business owner 18 cents per flyer.
“Somebody took a box cutter and literally cut those pieces out of each box that would provide any evidence of exactly which postal walk these are from,” said Boschman.
“Small businesses are supposed to rely on services like Canada Post.”
When asked what he plans to do with the holiday sale flyers, Boschman said “I plan to deliver them back to Canada Post.”
“When you think of all the people you can trust to deliver something properly, it’s them [Canada Post].”
Canada Post did not respond Saturday to KelownaNow’s request for comment.
