30-unit apartment building on Cadder Avenue has Kelowna city planners' support

Kelowna city planners will be recommending support for a rezoning application that, if successful, would change 789 and 809 Cadder Ave. to the apartment housing zone.

An application for these properties was submitted in mid-September.

The applicant is looking to build a six-storey, 29-unit apartment building.

According to the application, there would be a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments and an underground parkade providing a parking stall for each unit.

The landscape plan is calling for a rooftop amenity space with an outdoor kitchen, fire tables, a game area and lounge space.

City staff say the proposed building meets the future land use designation laid out in the Official Community Plan (OCP) and directly fronts a Transit Supportive Corridor on Cadder Avenue.

City planners say the proposed zone is consistent with the OCP’s policy of focusing density on transit supportive corridors.

Kelowna council will review this application during the Monday meeting, which will be the last council meeting of the year.
