Annual Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament set to return for 34th year

The Kelowna Chamber of Commerce is gearing up to host what will be their 34th annual golf tournament at the end of the month.

Based around bringing the local business community together for an afternoon of fun on the links, the event is so popular around the valley that tickets have become a hot commodity.

As one of the first major golf tournaments of the season, the annual event welcomes 144 participants to Harvest Golf Club for a day of incredible prizes thanks to generous sponsors like Parke Pacific Projects Ltd.

It also offers plenty of networking and a dash of philanthropy.

“I think this event is important because one of our mandates is to foster business in the community and to have events that can engage the community,” said event sponsorship manager, Brett Kryskow.

“It has always been one of our best events and we keep doing it because of the responses we get from the attendees that say it is one of the season’s better tournaments and how much business actually gets done there,” added Kryskow.

On the course attendees can expect a fun activity like giant Jenga at each hole, four hole-in-one grand prizes including a brand new hot tub, and ways to give back to the community through the KidSport raffle.

Last year the event mustered up a cool $2,000 to bolster the programs offered by KidSport, an organization that Kryskow feels it's important to support.

“My background is university football and I’m involved with the Okanagan Sun so for me, supporting KidSport and getting kids into sports is just a natural fit, but we have found that people love supporting a cause like this because they know it goes right into fostering the community,” he said.

With the hard work put in by the team at Harvest, the excellent prizes from sponsors and abundance of socializing opportunity, it is no wonder that the event is already sold out — but don’t pout just yet, because there is still a chance for you to get involved.

If you’re not an avid golfer but don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to be a part of the day, tickets for the after-tournament dinner are still up for grabs.

For $60 you can enjoy a delicious feast prepared by the culinary team at Harvest and, of course, more networking opportunities.
