KelownaNow readers reported activity at the Lake Okanagan resort Tuesday night, which they believed to be RCMP officers near the end of the shore with spotlights out scanning the water.
Lake Okanagan Resort security personnel confirmed there were police at the scene attending to a boating accident.
"We had a boat hit the [beach] and couple people flew out of it," they explained, noting there were members of a family onboard but were unable to confirm how many people. Those on board the boat were staying at the Lake Okanagan Resort.
"One of the kids, about 13-years-old I believe, has a potentially broken leg and a big gash on her leg."
The night security personnel believed the accident may have been caused due to poor nighttime visibility and unfamiliarity with the beach and shoreline.
Police arrived shortly before 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday to the scene alongside ambulance and fire department personnel.
