Crews report that the grass fire that started last night on Mt. Boucherie near Mission Hill Winery, was quiet overnight.
The West Kelowna Fire Rescue and the BC Wildfire Service are working today on continued suppression and mop up activities.
Jason Brolund, West Kelowna Fire Chief, says that a fire guard has been set up around the perimeter of the fire, and some smoke and flames may be visible today as crews work to put out hot spots.
The estimated size of the fire remains at five hectares. No structures were damaged and there were no injuries reported.
The fire did prompt an evacuation of Mission Hill Winery as well as residents on Royal Gala Drive and Gala View Drive. Evacuees were allowed to return home at 11 p.m.
The joint effort included 50 personnel from West Kelowna Fire Rescue, Peachland Fire Rescue, Kelowna Fire Department, BC Wildfire Service, RCMP, WFN Law Enforcement and the BC Ambulance.
Investigation into the cause of the fire will be ongoing, with investigators planned to be on scene today.
