A multi-million dollar building permit has been issued for the expansion of theKelowna International Airport (YLW) terminal building.
Last week, the city issued a permit valued at $70 million for the first phase of the project which is expected to last into 2026.
The first phase of the project will add around 5,590 square metres of new space to the terminal building, along with 1,200 square metres of renovations.
That includes an expanded departures lounge with improved food and drink options, a bigger security screening area, improved access on several gates and updated wayfinding.
Last month, airport director Sam Samaddar said passengers will see changes to parking in long-term Lot A which will restrict access into the terminal building from the south end.
Passengers will also see demolition work starting in the security screening area.
