CIBC Run for the Cure returns to Kelowna in October

Thousands of people across Canada are getting ready to run together in support of a cause close to many.

The 33rd annual Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is slated to return to 53 Canadian communities on Oct. 6, including several spots across BC.

“Breast cancer affects all of us. On average, 84 Canadian women are diagnosed with breast cancer each day,” said Laurie Benner, interim vice president of signature programs at the Canadian Cancer Society.

“We know life-changing progress is possible when we work together. At the CIBC Run for the Cure, families, coworkers and communities like Victoria play a powerful role in helping people experiencing breast cancer live longer, fuller lives.”

In 2023, more than 50,000 Canadians participated in the run and raised $14.5 million towards breast cancer research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and a support system.

Over the last five years, the Canadian Cancer Society has invested $61.4 million in research and support programs nationwide.

The run is open to everyone and participants can register to run or walk a five-kilometre or one-kilometre route. Both of the Kelowna routes will begin and end in City Park.
