It has been nearly two months since Kelowna City Council approved a rezoning application for a residential building across three properties across from the Kelowna Golf & Country Club on Glenmore Drive.
On Thursday, city planners accepted a development permit application for the project.
According to Urban Options Planning, the six-storey apartment building that, if successful, will be going up at 1256, 1260 and 1270 Glenmore Dr. will have 105 units.
All three lots will be consolidated as part of the application process, the developers say.
Units will be made up of studios, one-bedrooms and two-bedroom units.
“The target purchasers include young professionals, students, families, and local residents that are seeking an option to age in the neighbourhood with which they are familiar,” the application says.
“This proposal is anticipated to provide additional housing at a time where the local housing market has been identified as unaffordable and short of supply.”
Normally, the city would require 120 stalls but the application says five can be reduced for a bike stall bonus and another five can be reduced for a car share bonus.
The developer will be providing 112 stalls, however. There will be 138 bicycle parking spots.
All vehicle access to the building would be from a laneway with two “layers” or parkade.
Amenity space is provided in twice the amount required by the zoning bylaw, the application says
According to the application, that includes two “programmed” outdoor spaces, bookable office space on each floor, an indoor community room, a dog wash, bike repair station and a Modo carshare program.
An amenity contribution will be made to the City of Kelowna to allow for a 1.0 floor area ratio, Urban Options Planning says.
City planners haven’t circulated this application yet but a report will go before city council for consideration at a future meeting.
