If you’re travelling out of Kelowna International Airport (YLW) today, or picking up a loved one who is arriving in town, you’ll want to keep an eye on the status of flights.
The airport’s departures and arrivals boards are currently lit up red with delayed flights.
YLW's Director of Operations, Phillip Elchitz tells KelownaNow that the delays are mainly due to weather issues in other cities.
However, he also cited one plane's mechanical issue and "crew rest" as reasons for the schedule changes as well.
There are currently 11 flights listed as “delayed” between now and 1:40 pm, which are affecting travellers heading to a variety of destinations.
Flights to Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Seattle and Puerto Vallarta are all pushed back with some being delayed by more than an hour.
There are less issues on the arrivals board, but incoming flights from some of the same destinations have been affected.
