Does the red plate give you rage?

Red plate rage. It’s a thing. Alberta drivers are the least loved people on the road in B.C., and most of them don’t seem to know why.

Kim (a 25 year old female) has spent a lot of time living in both provinces, and has a good idea of the treatment drivers with red plates get.

She says that when she visited B.C. with her Alberta plate she got “flipped off” for driving the same way that she did when she lived in B.C. and had her blue plates. (Note that's not an error, Alberta only has to display one plate, B.C. has two, but that's a whole other story)

Savannah, who moved to B.C. from Medicine Hat, Alta., says that she was given a hard time when she had a red plate in B.C., even though she passed her driver's exam with, "flying colours."

“I couldn’t change lanes without being honked at or having other drivers throw their hands up at me,” she says. “When I changed to B.C. plates, they left me alone.”

B.C. drivers accuse Albertans of being too aggressive, driving too fast, and being horrendously bad at navigating curves in the road.

Drivers from B.C. tweet their frustrations, asking why Albertans are so afraid of corners, and how "an entire province of people can collectively be such terrible drivers."

Some Albertans are willing to own up to the accusations, and some just aren’t letting their Alberta pride go.

Regardless of red plates or blue plates, drivers are living in the greatest part of the country right here in Western Canada. It's a daily privilege to be surrounded by the stunning beauty of the region and breathe a deep sigh of relief that all the really bad drivers are far away on the east coast.
